What Spine is.
Spine is a software-as-a-service editorial workspace. You upload manuscript text; Spine analyzes it with AI providers and renders the result as a navigable graph. The product is provided "as is" with no warranty of fitness for any particular purpose.
Your account, your responsibility.
You're responsible for what you upload. Don't upload manuscripts you don't have rights to. Don't upload material that infringes copyright, defames anyone, or violates applicable law. We may suspend accounts that do.
Acceptable use.
- No automated scraping, headless-browser farms, or attempts to circumvent rate limits.
- No use of Spine as a free LLM-API proxy. The agent loop and Ask endpoints are for editorial work on your manuscripts.
- No reverse engineering, no probing for vulnerabilities outside our published security disclosure path.
- No spam: don't submit invites, waitlist signups, or comments to addresses that didn't ask for them.
Subscriptions.
If you're on a paid plan, you authorize Spine to charge your payment method on the schedule you selected (monthly or annual). Plans renew automatically until you cancel. Cancellation stops future charges; we don't issue prorated refunds for the current billing period unless required by law. Tax is added where applicable.
BYOK.
If you connect your own provider key, your usage is on your provider's bill, not ours. We don't mark up provider costs. We don't see provider invoices. We do enforce abuse-prevention limits on shape (request size, content type, origin) but not on cost.
Your content stays yours.
You retain all rights to manuscript text, annotations, and AI-generated artifacts produced for your account. You grant Spine a limited license to process the content for the purpose of running the service — nothing broader.
Termination.
You can delete your account at any time from /settings. We can suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms or applicable law; we'll give notice except where doing so would compromise other users' safety. On termination we delete your data per the privacy practices.
Liability.
Spine is provided without warranty. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim related to the service is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We're not liable for indirect, consequential, or special damages.
Changes.
We may update these terms; if we do, we'll notify users of material changes by email. Continued use after the update is acceptance.
