California privacy notice
For residents of California. Last updated 2026-04-27.
This notice supplements our Privacy practices and applies to California residents under the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act). Capitalised terms used here have the meaning given in those statutes.
Do not sell or share my personal information
We do not sell your personal information for money, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We also do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes other than those permitted under §7027(m) of the CCPA regulations (delivering the service you requested, security, debugging). You may still exercise your right to limit our use of sensitive personal information by emailing support@rodyr.com with the subject Limit use: CCPA; we will confirm your request within 15 business days.
Categories of personal information we collect
- Identifiers: email address, account ID, IP address (hashed at the edge).
- Customer records: display name, optional avatar URL.
- Commercial information: subscription tier, billing-relevant metadata returned by Stripe (we do not store full card numbers).
- Internet activity: session metadata (user-agent, login timestamps), abuse-prevention signals.
- User content: manuscripts, annotations, AI prompts and responses you generate. This is stored to deliver the service and is private to your account by default.
- Inferences: none. We do not derive consumer profiles from your activity.
Sources, purposes, and recipients
We collect information directly from you (sign-up, content uploads, support emails) and from your device (browser headers, IP). We use it to deliver the service, secure it, bill you, and communicate transactional updates. Recipients are the subprocessors listed at /legal/subprocessors. Each acts only on documented instructions.
Retention
Account data is retained for the lifetime of your account; on deletion it is removed within 30 days of the request, except where retention is required for legal, fraud-prevention, or accounting reasons (in which case we hold the minimum necessary for the minimum necessary period, generally 7 years for tax records).
Your rights
- Right to know: request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Right to delete: request that we erase the personal information we hold about you, subject to limited exceptions.
- Right to correct: request that we correct inaccurate personal information.
- Right to opt out of sale or sharing: we do not sell or share, but you may still exercise this right preemptively.
- Right to limit use of sensitive personal information: as described above.
- Right against discrimination: we will never deny service, charge a different price, or provide a lower quality of service in retaliation for exercising any of these rights.
How to exercise your rights
Email support@rodyr.com with the subject line CCPA request. We must verify your identity before fulfilling a request; we do this by requiring you to send the request from the email address registered to the account, plus matching two pieces of information about your account. We respond within 45 days; we may extend by an additional 45 days when reasonably necessary, with notice.
Authorized agents
You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf. The agent must provide a power of attorney signed by you, or you must verify your identity directly with us and confirm that you have given the agent permission to submit the request.
